Questions and answers
In X-Friend you can play tic-tac-toe, connect four and chess with your AI girlfriend or boyfriend. Her moves come from a game engine in the app, so they follow the rules, and she comments on the game in the chat in her own words. You can minimise the board, chat and come back to the game.
Can I play chess with an AI girlfriend?
Yes. In X-Friend you play a full game of chess with your character, and she comments on it in the chat.
Does she cheat?
No. Her moves come from a game engine that follows the rules. The AI only writes the comments.
Can she lose?
Yes. The engine plays at a level and makes mistakes now and then, so you can beat her.
Are the games free?
Yes, all three games are in every plan. Her comments count as messages; on the free plan she comments at the end of a game.
Three games, real rules
- Tic-tac-toe: quick, one round takes a minute.
- Connect four: drop your discs, she blocks you and builds her own rows.
- Chess: a full game with all the rules. She takes a moment before each move.
Why the AI does not make the moves
Language models play chess badly and sometimes break the rules. That is why her moves are calculated by a small engine on your device, and the AI does what it is good at: talking. She takes a realistic amount of time for her moves and sometimes writes something in between.
The engine plays with a level and makes a mistake now and then, so you can win. She will have something to say about that too.
The limits, honestly
- Her comments count as messages, like any reply in the chat.
- On the free plan she comments at the end of a game. With Premium or Ultra she also comments during the game.
- If your messages run out, the game goes on and she just stays quiet.
- Just for fun: no bets, no prizes.
