Safety and limits

X-Friend is for people aged 18 and over. When you set up your account you enter your date of birth, and the app cannot be used below 18. Example characters on this website are at least 21.

• Allowed: romance, flirting and role play between adults.
• Spicy selfies and spicy video calls show lingerie or underwear, never nudity.
• Never: anything involving minors. References to minors are removed from character descriptions before anything is generated.
• Never: real people or celebrities. Reference photos must show you or be yours to use.
• Never: illegal content, glorified violence, hate, or instructions to harm yourself or others.

Characters are adults by design. Uploaded reference photos are checked automatically, and if a face looks underage the photo is not used. Descriptions are cleaned of anything that refers to minors before a prompt is built.

Every character in X-Friend is an AI, and the app marks it as such. If you seriously ask her whether she is an AI, she answers honestly. This follows the transparency duty for AI systems in the EU AI Act (Article 50), which applies from 2 August 2026.

When a conversation suggests that someone is in crisis, the character changes her tone, stays with you and points to real help. She is not a therapist and cannot replace one. If you are in danger, contact emergency services or one of these lines:

Your chats are not sold, not used for advertising and not used to train AI models. You can delete single chats, characters or your whole account in the app, and export your data. Data is stored in London (United Kingdom) and is not end-to-end encrypted, because the AI has to read a message to answer it.

If you see something that breaks these rules, use the feedback button in the app or write to contact@x-friend.app. Reports are reviewed by a person.

Rules like California’s companion chatbot law (SB 243) ask for clear AI disclosure, crisis protocols and protection of minors. The measures on this page follow the same principles.
